Wilfred- “What is a vassal?”
In days of old, in lands afar,
A vassal served beneath a lord,
Bound by oath, beneath the star,
To wield a sword, to plow the sward.
He labored long upon the land,
To yield the fruits, so rich and fair,
With humble heart and steady hand,
He served his lord with constant care.
His loyalty, his steadfast will,
Were tested oft in battle's call,
For vassals fought and vassals fell,
In service true, they stood so tall.
Through winter's chill and summer's heat,
The vassal toiled without complaint,
With duty bound, with honor sweet,
He bore his burden, never faint.
And though his name may fade away,
In tales of kings and knights of old,
The vassal's spirit holds the sway,
In hearts that cherish stories told.
So let us raise a toast on high,
To vassals brave and true and bold,
Their legacy will never die,
In songs of honor, never cold.
